For the first time ever in Klein Cain, the Cain Theatre Department has put together a special treat for those who would come. Stage Fright is Cain’s very first experimental haunted house that will have you traverse through the auditorium stage to backstage.

“We’ve never done a haunted house before,” Christopher Pruett, the Tech Theatre director said. “…we’re hoping that it will be scary, given that we have cool lighting and… the ability to contain light and make things dark and play with sounds and stuff, it should be good.”

Stage Fright will be premiering on October 30, then November 1-2, all three days from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will also be carnival games, food stands, and food trucks for all to enjoy.

From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. it will mainly be targeted towards younger children. The children’s event will be called Spooky House, lights will be on and no jump scares will be present, and it will feature an I-Spy activity where the kids will go from room to room and find certain items. Rewards will range from stickers to candy.

From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. will be the actual haunted house, starting at the outside door of the Scene Shop, room number 35. You’ll begin there in groups of 5-6 with a guide to be toured through the entire backstage facility, Scene Shop/Workshop, Stage, and Black Box spaces, which will make up different sections of the haunted house. With it, there will be a narrative story that will be told as you traverse through the haunted house with actors and technicians hidden throughout to give you a fright.

“Hopefully we can scare you along the way,” Pruett said.
