*NOTE: As of Friday, April 12, the tournament was rescheduled to Saturday, April 20 due to severe weather.
On Saturday, April 13, 2019, the Klein Cain Band will be hosting their second annual disc golf tournament. The event will be held at the Northside Christian Church from 12-2 p.m.
The event will have food trucks, a raffle contest, cornhole, and music. The proceeds that the event raises will support the band. To be entered in the tournament someone would have to pay $30 for an individual team, or $60 for a doubles team.
“All money will go to benefit the band program and help lower the cost of the fees for the students,” associate band director Kelsey Bradberry said. “Some specific things we’ll be using the money towards are instrument purchase/repair, music purchases, equipment purchases, masterclass instruction, etc.”
They also hosted the same event last year as a way to earn funds. The band used the money earned for instruments, equipment, props, etc.
“Seeing everyone come together, have a great time, and experience something new was marvelous,” Bradberry said. “I’d recommend everyone at least give it a try. We had several professional disc golfers compete last year, and they ended up giving helpful pointers to less practiced players.”
The competition is expected to grow headed into its second year with many competitors coming back to compete after being listed on last year’s roster.
“This is only our second year hosting the tournament, but last year we had over 80 participants playing,” Bradberry said. “If you want to participate the registration is still open for this year. Go to the Klein Cain website to sign up.”
