Students are excited to begin their upcoming basketball season as we move into the 2025-2026 year. Both Girl and boys teams are offered to the students of Klein Cain, and both are working towards their goals for this season. Head coach of the boys team, Jonathan Cook, and head coach of the girls team, Megan Williams, both actively work with their teams to make the 2025-26 season great.
“The most important part of the season is probably practice because if we are practicing well, then that means that we should put a good product on the court when it’s time for the game,” Cook said.
The previous school year, both teams competed against 9 other high schools at district playoffs. Klein Cain’s boys team was ranked 7th in last season’s playoffs, alongside the girls’ team that ranked 6th.
The Hurricanes have been hard at work during pre-season, between practices and scrimmages this year. Both varsity teams have attended 2 scrimmages each, prior to the Nov. 7 season starter.
Both head coaches watched and tracked the teams progress in the previous years. Coach Williams and Coach Cook have worked hard and trained their players to push them to the best of their abilities.
“I think we will have a really good season this year.” Williams said. “Last season was rough for us but the girls learned through the process and worked hard all summer long and continue to work hard so I think this is going to be a great year for Klein Cain girls basketball.”
Small forward/power forward on Varsity team, Kole Duncan, made goals for himself and his team after the beginning of the new season.
“I’m going to train in the off-season and work as hard as I possibly can to help my team. We could improve on making shots and passing the ball around more,” Duncan said.
After the analysis of last season and the players abilities, the teams have trained hard by participating in practices, improving shots, working with defensive and offensive players, and planning strategically for the season. The soon 25-26 basketball season, starting on Nov. 7, has been well prepared for by everyone’s hard work over the past two years.
