Klein Cain High School gave a warm “aloha” to incoming freshmen with a Hawaiian-themed freshman mixer- leis included upon entry! The tropical night was full of games such as twister, bowling, and indoor football, as well as a photo booth and dancing.
The idea of a freshman mixer is to, “loosen up the kids to really experience just a fun way to start their high school experience. Like meeting new friends, dancing, and having their last few years of fun while they’re still young,” said STUCO president, Tianne Bonsith.
These are the precise feelings of sophomore Katelyn Luong, “I’ve actually made a lot of friends and connections because of the freshmen mixer. I remember in my freshman year a lot of them (members of STUCO) came up to me and started talking to me while I was at the booths with my friends. It helped me, later on, to join stucco and become much more committed to it, and now I’m a committee chair,”
Although many freshmen were hesitant to attend, they all made lasting memories.
“The most memorable part of the night was dancing with my friend,” said freshman Willow Sanchez
With many things to look forward to in high school, each student has their own individual goals. When asked about these aspirations, student Miguel Martinez stated that a club he was looking forward to joining was
“the buddies club, where you get to hang out with people with disabilities.”
Differentially, freshman Yusuf Bolat claims his goals for high school consist of, “getting medals in wrestling.”
The freshmen mixer is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that can change the course of one’s time in high school- a pivotal key to development as we all grow into adulthood. Every year, STUCO does an amazing job to make the newest members of our Klein Cain family feel more comfortable in our halls with this mixer.
