After last Wednesday’s parade in Hurricane Alley, violinist Jason Kim left and represented Klein Cain in the TMEA All-State Ensemble. In the TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association) All-State Ensemble, Kim played the violin at the All-State concert with other students who made it into All-State as well.

“The concert went really well, Kim remarked.”It was really good.”

In the last two years, Kim also made All-State Ensemble. Once as a freshman, and twice as a sophomore, both times happening while Kim attended Klein Oak High School. This year marks his third time making it into All-State Ensemble and his first time as a Klein Cain student.

“I feel awesome about making it to state,” Kim said. “It’s such a privilege to have great teachers and colleagues that help me get to where I am.”

As a violinist, Kim understands how important it is to practice consistently and rigorously, stating that this is his key to having a good or even great audition.

Before making it to TMEA All-State Ensemble, Kim auditioned at regions where he ended up receiving eight place out of 20 other violinists.

“You just need to start early and work hard consistently,” Kim said. “Normally, right when the audition material comes out, I just grind for a long time. Once you figure out the system, it’s not awfully hard to get in.”
