FFA Progress Show

Future Farmers of America, or FFA, is a program that teaches students about agricultural education. This year at Klein Cain, FFA is having their second annual progress show. Students will showcase animals they’ve cared for so far this year. The progress show will take place on Dec. 8, 8 a.m at 6747 Klein Cemetery Rd. Spring, Tx  77379. Students, parents, and staff encourage everyone to bring friends and family to help the community be a bigger part of FFA. Students not only gain a learning experience but also bring awareness to the organization. 

As a result, FFA student Kaylie Argueta has been prepping this year by learning the animals and their responsibilities. Kaylie’s animal is a cow and was bought by local breeders. According to Argueta caring for the animal is a big deal.

“You have to make sure they’re clean along with their pens,” Argueta said. “…and you have to make sure you work with them and take them out twice a day.”  

What to Expect

There are many activities to participate in the progress show, including a fun competition to win a trophy, and a free petting zoo. Also, there will be goats, pigs, lamb, and cattle all for the showcase. This event is family friendly and will offer fun opportunities. Furthermore, people should bring to the event are boots or old shoes, cameras, and chairs if they’d prefer to watch. 

In last year’s progress show, Coach Andrew Fairleigh won a trophy for Teacher Showcase where he showcased a lamb and pig.

“I saw the FFA students present their animals, and I tried to do it better, and it was fun,” Fairleigh said.

The FFA Progress show acts as a checkpoint for students as they prepare their animals for the end-of-year auction.  Finally, the end of year auction serves as a way for the students to make back the money spent on raising the livestock.
