Player #9 Josie Hoff has shown her confidence on the court, inspiring many others to be just like her. As one of the best spikers for her team, Josie takes into account the training of her body as well as her brain.
“Volleyball definitely takes a toll on my schedule, especially with ongoing practices and games and traveling all the time. But I like to always make time for schoolwork and use my time effectively in class and out of class to stay on top of my volleyball and academic commitments,” said Hoff.
Josie Hoff, a natural-born player, has used her mental strength to not only fight through the game of eagles, but fight through an everyday struggle of reality.
“Volleyball training has definitely improved my mentality outside of the sport, by enhancing my mental toughness and discipline, which is carried on by my everyday life,” said Hoff.
As a young rising volleyball player, Josie Hoff has had a past struggle to keep up with the competitive gameplay of volleyball. However, these struggles made her the player she is today.
“One hardship that I’ve overcome in volleyball is my self-confidence, the pressure of performing well in games and important matches, to control my mental health and learning to manage stress. Focusing on the process instead of the outcome has helped me a lot,” said Hoff.
As the games begin, Josie continues to strive and pave a way for her team, but she could not have done this by herself. Coach Erickson, the head coach for the team, has pushed the backs of her players, leaving an impact on Josie Hoff.
“A good coach can teach you everything you need to know, but they’re never going to be on the court with you. They can help push your limits and make a difference in your life so that you are better overall on the court,” said Hoff.
