After a historically strong run-up to the district championship game, the Klein Cain Varsity Football team closed out their regular season with a blowout game over Tomball Memorial 49-10. The Hurricanes enter playoffs with a 9-1 record, securing the seed 1 position as the school continues to break records.
“It feels great to come off a win into the playoffs, and it feels even better to be entering playoffs with the district title,” said Hayden Johnson (#83 WR).
FIRST HALF – Hurricane Season
There was no mercy from the Hurricanes as the Tomball defense was tossed into the frying pan after Cain found their fire. An interception turned touchdown by senior Patrick Baptiste (#7 DB) set the tone for the Hurricanes as Tomball got more than they bargained for.
Despite concerns about an impending thunderstorm, the only thunder at Tomball Stadium was the Klein Cain offense keeping the chain crew busy as they dominated the first half. Paired with an impenetrable defensive line, the Hurricanes headed to the locker room with a confident lead 35-3 at the half.
SECOND HALF – No Rest for the Weary
With the unstoppable surge of momentum from the first half, the Hurricanes refused to let off the gas headed into the second. With a recovered Tomball fumble, and the Cougar offense consistently losing yardage, Klein Cain fans were turned up to 11.
Closing out the 4th quarter, there was at least a shimmer of redemption for the Tomball offense with a touchdown in response to senior #24 Jonathan Rosette’s 3rd quarter TD. Ultimately, Tomball had trailed too far as the Hurricanes put their foot down with another score in the 4th, bringing the final to 49-10.
As the Hurricanes crushed Tomball’s defense on Friday, the support crews were in high gear making sure players were operating at their best.
¨I’m very excited about this game not to only watch it but to see the other trainers from the other school. It is very cool to see trainers from other schools to see the similarities and differences of our program,” said athletic trainer Isabella Fullerton.
The Hurricanes will show off their skills stacking up against Cy-Ranch with a 7:00 pm kickoff at Klein Memorial Stadium (visitor side). Tickets for the bi-district game are now for sale online on the etix website.
