Last Friday, the Klein Memorial stadium was buzzing with anticipation, as students filled the stadium, waiting to see the two best teams in the district face off. The night ended victoriously for Klein Cain, with them winning the game 25- 21 successfully taking down the Tigers, and changing Collin’s undefeated status.
The first quarter was an intense battle between each team’s offense and defense, but unfortunately, the game’s first touchdown was scored by the Tigers. The rest of the quarter continued with Collins in the lead, with Cain struggling for a touchdown. The end of the quarter went to Collins them in the lead 7-0.
As the night continued and the second quarter began, Collins still maintained hold of the ball for most of the quarter leading to them scoring another touchdown. Despite the big plays Collins made against the Hurricane’s offense. Cain was able to make an 8-yard pass and get a touchdown lowering Collins’s lead on them. Cain’s offense was able to make another passing touchdown for 10-yards almost closing up the two-touchdown lead from Collins. The defense prevented the Tiger’s offense from gaining a bigger lead on the Hurricanes for the rest of the second quarter. As half-time approached, Collins, was still in the lead with a score of 14 with Cain trailing by two.
The second half of the game started with Cain kicking off the ball. Both teams went back and forth until Collins’s defense intercepted Cain’s ball. This led to Collins scoring a rushing touchdown on the last drive of the third quarter. The third quarter ended with a score of 21-12 Klein Collins.
The fourth and final quarter of the game was very intense. K Cain started with the ball and immediately made a huge play scoring an 82-yard touchdown on the Tigers. Cains’s defense was holding off Collins’s offense and eventually caused Collins to fumble the ball and cause Cain to recover it with them finally being able to possess the ball again. The possession led to Cain being able to make a 20-yard touchdown this led to Cain finally being in the lead they were fighting so hard to get the whole game. With only a few minutes left in the game, Collins’s offense tried to act quickly to score.
Unfortunately for Collins despite gaining a first down, they threw a game-ending pick caught by number 44. With Cain having the ball with under a minute left and having the lead, Cain decided it would be best to kneel the ball and gain this huge victory from Collins. Ending the game with a final score of 25-21 Klein Cain.
